These five words describe the essence of how I navigate life.
When I was two years old I was struck by a car. This event sent me on a lifelong journey to understand things most people grasp intuitively.
I suffered a minor brain injury that left me without many of the internal cues people rely on to navigate emotions, relationships, and everyday situations. I also experience gaps in memory and need information presented in a very specific way in order to process it. Much of what others feel or sense automatically, I have had to work out consciously.

As a child, and later as a young man, I needed a way to push through these limitations if I was going to have a normal life. I never found a magic bullet. But I did discover a method that worked for me.
Around the age of twelve, I began forming ideas about what I wanted to achieve and noticing things I struggled with. It was obvious I didn’t have the skills, so I started reading books and trying to copy successful people. Gradually these efforts formed into the process I described above.
In the beginning I focused on basic abilities like how to greet people warmly, and how to trap a soccer ball. Over time, I moved on to more complex skills like how to tell a joke, when it is appropriate to be vulnerable, and how to optimize processes and outcomes.
There was a lot of trial and error, and more than a few moments I wish I had handled differently. But as I approach sixty, I finally feel close to being who I was trying to become, and to having something worthwhile to share with those who want to learn alongside me.
The purpose of this website is to share some of the unique insights I have gained along the way, particularly in the areas of faith, relationships, health, and work.
My Interests
Religion
I’m not one to fall for hype or simply follow the crowd. After years of extensive research, I’m convinced that God is real and the Bible is His message to us.
Work
I started my first little business when I was 10 and have been working ever since. I’ve experienced many highs and a few lows on this journey, and love sharing practical ideas with others seeking more from their work.
Family
I got started late in life, getting married at 51 and having our first child at 52. I think the insights I’ve gained from this super long runway will make me a better dad to my two adorable girls and happy little son.
